New Pets
My children, who have not been entirely sure that our move to the "big, scary, purple house" will be a good thing, are much more excited, now that they've discovered that the house comes with a whole family of "pets."
On the other hand, I am less than thrilled by the discovery. Indiana Jones and I feel much the same way about the critters.

Oh, Jordana, I don't think I'm ever coming over there now. What a horrible photo!!! They may be under my house, too, but I don't want to know about it if they are.

Eek!
aaaaaagh!
Wow, careful with those guys!
Truly, they are just garter snakes, so they aren't going to hurt us, and as long as they stay outside, I can peacefully coexist with them. If only my seven year old weren't so bent on catching one.
Are those tails or baby snakes? In third grade I woke up to find a garter snake on my wall in my bedroom and I wouldn't get out of bed, so I just yelled to my mom in the kitchen, "Mom! Can I take this snake to show and tell? And could you come and catch it for me?"
Tell the seven year old you need them out there to eat the mosquitoes.

Those are the heads of two baby snakes, but I'm pretty sure I saw the mama's back. Blech.
